Hey fellas,

Great work with this!  It’s really awesome work!

I’ve run into a bit of an issue that I wanted to ask you about.  According to http://www.solspace.com/docs/detail/tag_stand_alone_entry_form/ I should be able to update my tags by including a textarea with the name=“tag_f”.  Is SafeCracker expecting to find a custom field called tag_f?  Because I’m able to bring in tags that have been entered in the CP, but it won’t update the tags via SafeCracker.

Any idea on what to try here?

Thanks again!

Jesse

Do you know what hooks the Tag field extension uses?

Hey Rob,

I’ve asked over at Solspace if they can give me the hooks, but here is what I found on Devot-ee:

control_panel_home_page
delete_entries_start
gallery_cp_entry_form_add_row
gallery_cp_insert_entry_end
gallery_cp_update_entry_end
publish_form_new_tabs
publish_form_new_tabs_block
submit_new_entry_end

However, I’m not sure if these are for EE 1.6 or 2.1.

Thank you!

Those look EE1-ish to me.

I guess I’ll wait to hear back from them on what hooks it the 2.1 compatible version uses.  The way Solspace is doing it now is one set of code run through their Bridge expansion.  Do you think that has anything to do with it?

I don’t think it’s bridge related. It’s probably just some kind of input I hadn’t thought of. It’s hard to tell without having the addon, though.

Would you like access to the install?

Yeah, that’d be great. Can you PM me FTP access too? It’d be helpful to see the innards of the addon.

I’m running both Safecracker and Solspace’s Tags mod on a site I’m building, so I’m interested in a solution for this as well. Will be monitoring this thread for updates. smile

Regarding this post: http://www.solspace.com/forums/viewthread/5807/

Does SafeCracker work with Tag? Can it?

Cheers,

Graham

It doesn’t work…yet. We are working to come up with a solution.

That was a damn fast reply, my friend.

Good to know you’re on it.

Keep us posted if there’s anything to report via this thread?

Just to add… the reason it doesn’t work with tag, is that Tag is a module, that adds its own submission system. Since the data isn’t stored as weblog data in a custom field, but as its own system… it’s outside what a standard SAEF can do on its own. Supporting custom fields is no big deal. Supporting a third party system that has its own entry system and database storage is a bit more complicated. Just FYI… We try to support stuff like this, but it takes time.

Here’s a question for you peeps: has anyone actually gotten Solspace Tag working on a standard channel:entry_form SAEF? It didn’t work for me in my (very quick) test.

I just bought it yesterday, so I haven’t tried SAEF yet.

I’ll let you know if I’m successful.
